Where your treasure is, there you heart will be. (Matthew 6:21)

When I was doing "spring cleaning" yesterday, I found an
old folder that had this reminder printed on the cover:
When a society or a civilization perishes, one condition
can always be found. They forgot where they came from.
—Carl Sandburg
Hummm ... that's worth thinking about.
How about these words that Paul Greenberg wrote in his
Jan. 31 Arkansas-Democrat Gazette column: "Yes,
nations change, as people do. But without a set of inner
beliefs, we wind up abandoning principles as regularly as
we adopt them. ..."
And long before either Sandburg or Greenberg were
born, the following timeless advice was penned in the
book of Proverbs: "Do not forget my teaching, but let
your heart keep my commandments" (3:1).
I'm reminded of the importance of remembering our
roots, living out our beliefs, and following His teachings.
Have a great week,
Mary

One of the Christmas presents that Pops and I gave our grands
