Madelyn’s early morning perky disposition disappeared by the time she got home from her first day in kindergarten. When her
favorite lunch failed to cheer up the five year old, mom began to ask questions. Finally Madelyn whispered her tearful reply,
“No one clapped for me today.”
Unfortunately, reality had invaded Madelyn’s space. Not everyone considered her wonderful!
The first two chapters of Genesis record a glorious account of the Trinity’s accomplishments. And then it is as though God truly
did stand back and clap His hands as He pronounced what His eyes beheld as not only good, but very good. One can sense
God’s total pleasure in what He had created.
God’s absolute delight is not all that is apparent in this passage. Creation of the heavens and the earth is brought about in a very
organized fashion, and each day is surveyed as it is completed. Obviously the world was created in preparation for man. He
was not an afterthought but in the heart of the Savior from the beginning. Also, it cannot be disputed that Eve was always part
of God’s design as she becomes Adam’s welcomed companion in the garden. The couple is given their duties and their future
life together is mapped out. God’s perfect plans are put in motion.
“Our God is an awesome God, He reigns over heaven and earth.” The truth of those lyrics reverberates through these verses.
Our loving Heavenly Father had a purpose in every phrase He uttered to bring the universe into existence. God still has ultimate
authority, and He assumes responsibility for everything and everyone He has created.
Health care plans, 401K plans, vacation plans, diet plans, house plans – what do all these plans have in common? They were
devised by humans supposedly to make life better. But since “the beginning”, God’s plan was and still is the only one that is
ideal.
Hopefully, Madelyn will hear and believe the Words of her Creator and know that He applauds every second of her existence.
Even more exciting is the fact that He has a personalized blueprint for her life. God has a perfect plan for each of us. We need
only ask Him for it.
