The Poet's Touch

Listen to the soft breath of a child whose warm head
rests upon your chest.
Listen to your own words of affection.
"You are special."
"You are not alone."
"Cherish the desire to become the person
you are meant to be."
"I will love you forever."

Listen to earth sounds ... wind sounds ... rain sounds ...
whispers ... bell sounds ... prayer sounds ... lullabies ...
birdsong ... laughter ... melodies ... a baby's heartbeat....
Listen to the sounds of God's creatures in His universe.

Listen, breath deeply, dream sweet dreams
and listen again.

"You are loved."
