Author Mary May Larmoyeux packs a powerful punch with her small, concise book, Help For Busy Moms- Purposeful
Living to Simplify Life. Her book opened my eyes to God’s word on my responsibilities as a godly wife and mother,
allowing me the opportunity to rethink my daily routines to better impact my husband and children.

In fact, in the first few pages Ms. Larmoyeux gently reminds us that “Scripture tells us that we should honor and respect
our husband, manage our homes well, and live in such a way that our children will recognize that our strength comes
from the Lord–not from ourselves.”

Let’s face it ladies, it’s near on impossible to be the perfect wife and mother. We try, don’t we? So many of us, myself
included, work day in and day out to reach a standard that the world sets before us, leaving us frustrated, angry and bitter.
It’s a constant, difficult struggle to find balance in our personal lives and meet the needs of those we love most. However,
in Help for Busy Moms, we are ushered into a world of possibilities in time management which allow us the opportunity
to refocus our relationship with the Lord, which in turn directly shape’s the way we live our lives and how we treat those
around us.

Within each chapter you will find bible verses as well as “Questions for Purposeful Living” that will encourage you to slow
down and make time for the Lord, to listen to what He’s really calling you to do with your time and efforts. Scattered
throughout this helpful guide you will find tons of helpful tips that will enable you to streamline your busy day allowing you
ample to reconnect with your Lord and precious family.

If you’re feeling like you need a little bit of guidance, words of encouragement or a few quick tips that will help remove the
stress you’re feeling in your daily life, I highly recommend Ms. Larmoyeux’s Help For Busy Moms – Purposeful Living To
Simplify Life.

When I first became a mom, every day felt like just trying to make it through the day (who am I kidding, it's STILL like that
some days). Once the kids started to get a little older and started remembering things we had done or requesting certain
activities, it kind of dawned on me that having a plan would probably be a good idea! If you've been thinking, "I need to
start some family traditions" or found yourself looking up baby stats that you never thought in a million years you would
forget, then this book is for you!

Mary Larmoyeux is the author of "Help For Busy Moms: Purposeful Living to Simplify Life". Mary is a dear friend of ours
from Little Rock, and she's one of those people that everyone deserves to know. She is sincere and loving, and her
words of encouragement and creativity come through the pages easily. It feels like you're sitting down having a
conversation with a caring friend whose wisdom you long for. Scripture is everywhere in this book!

I don't want to give too much away because you need to buy the book for yourself! However, some of my favorite parts are:

1. Discussion questions at the end of each chapter PLUS a chart at the back of the book. After answering the discussion
questions, Mary suggests placing one thought (something you need to start doing or stop doing) from each chapter in
the chart. I think this is brilliant! How handy to have a quick snapshot of the top 15 ideas that stuck out to you.

2. Memory Makers-Mary lists tons of things you can do with your children that "make memories", including making
rainbow toast (my kids would love this), and then she stresses the importance of journaling. No, we're not going to
remember what cute thing our child was saying at age 2 1/2. Write it down and don't worry about trying to remember. You
can go back and read it when the kids are grown! Mary opens up her own journal and welcomes us into her world of
thoughts. So many times I feel like I have to write a whole page, but Mary shows that just 2 sentences is all I need to
remember a special moment. She lists a host of journaling ideas, so you don't have to come up with them all on your
own!

3. Chapter 5: 100 Ways to Simplify Your Life-How's that for a cool list? And they're broken into time management, meals
& kitchen, clothes, housework, school tips, communication tips, entertaining kids, and misc. Here's #98 to give you an
example: "Once a year burn a CD with favorite family pictures and put in a the safety deposit box."

My overall feeling of this book was energy. It motivated me to start connecting with my kids and giving them memories
that they can carry with them and pass down to their own children one day. You can buy the book pretty much anywhere,
but here are the links to Amazon and Target!

Help For Busy Moms by Mary May Larmoyeux

93% of you just heaved a big sigh, didn't you? Though the term "busy mom" is rather redundant, isn't it? But the covers of
this book are full of nuggets of excellence. Like this one:

"Never think of yourself as 'just a wife and mom.' You're a molder of leaders, a gatekeeper of peace, a channel through
which God's Word can be passed on to the next generation. Quite an overwhelming charge, isn't it?"

Um, when you put it that way....

And this one: "As long as there are little ones enjoying life in our home, I'll never win a Susie Homemaker Award. I really
need to remember that my main priorities are loving the Lord and being a wife and mom. Someday the kids will be
grown, and the house can them be spotless. But it will also be very quiet. I need to appreciate the clutter. It must mean
that real life is going on in our house."

Thank you.

It's also full of tips and scripture references to apply to many aspects of this crazy life we signed up for. Lord, help us all.

Oh, and speaking of busy moms...go wish Liz congrats!!!! I've been obsessively stalking her blog all weekend and finally,
FINALLY, that baby boy is out (days early!).

                       June 4, 2008 post

I met Mary May at last year's ACFW conference in Dallas. When a group of us went out on Friday night, Mary and I sat
beside each other at a Mexican restaurant. (Where I got a bad case of food poisoning, but that's another story!) Mary
mentioned that she had a book coming out in the next year. We exchanged business cards, and I offered to review it on
my blog, so here it is:

Mary and I are in the same stage of life--married children and grandchildren, but her book would be helpful for busy
moms of any generation. I especially enjoyed the examples she gave from her own parenting years when her boys were
younger. Each chapter starts with a quote from Scripture or another book, and each chapter ends with "Questions for
Purposeful Living" to help the reader learn to apply the principles from that section to their own lives.
